Psychotherapy in The Outdoors Training weekend
September 27, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - September 29, 2019 @ 2:00 pm€190
This three day course will be mainly experiential and will be conducted for the most part outside. It is designed for practitioners who either work outdoors with clients or who would like to do so. Thus psychologists, art therapists, counsellors, and care workers might be interested in such an event. This event would also serve as a retreat for people who wish to spend guided time in the outdoors, learning ways to enhance their own personal healing in a beautiful, tranquil and mysterious setting.
I come into the peace of wild things
Who do not tax their lives with forethought
Of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
Waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free
Wendell Berry (2008)
I qualified as a psychotherapist in 2000 and began seeing clients outside in 2010. Moving into wild nature in the pursuit of healing and awakening to an inner power, was very natural for me. I am a person who thrives in the outdoors and it is the environment that feeds my soul.
Over the years I have had many enquiries from students who are writing about therapy in the outdoors. Invariably I invite them to experience an outdoor session with me.
The outdoor environment is a very non-traditional setting for what can be a very powerful experience in working with issues including anxiety, depression, unhealthy anger inner child work and working with our dreams. Spending guided time in the outdoors, can open a person’s ability to learn ways of enhancing their own personal healing. Please see my articles in the I.A.H.I.P journal “Inside Out” Summer 2013 and Network Feb/March 2015 issue 92.
